Our Retirement Housing offer self-contained flats, the privacy of your own home in a supportive community setting, with professional help available to support your independence. We also provide semi-frail care and frail care options.
Our History
Ekklesia Park Home was founded on 19 October 1968 as a project of and under the auspices of the Dutch Reformed Church. After more than 55 years it still functions under Tutela, the service arm of this church as part of the services for the elderly and other persons in need of care.
Our Vision
The vision of the Home is to offer sustainable, affordable, dynamic and need-based care of the aged to and by the community.
A holistic approach true to the Christian principles for the care of the aged is followed, implying that the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the individual are taken into account.

Retirement Village Apartments
Retirement Village Apartments
The retirement village consists of 50, one and two bedroomed apartments, with both ground-floor and first-floor level access. Each apartment consists of an open-plan kitchen, living/dining room, and a bathroom, either with a bath or a shower. Although residents of the retirement village have to function independently, an emergency service from the Home is available in case of need. Semi-Frail Care
Semi-Frail Care
SEMI-FRAIL CARE FOR THE INDEPENDENT PERSON: In the semi-frail care section rooms of different sizes, each with its own bathroom, offer the possibility to still function independently to some extent, with the option to receive assistance with bathing, medication, treatment of wounds and 24 hours supervision. Meals, servicing of rooms and laundry are included in the monthly payment. Monthly rent: R14 505 – R18 010
Frail Care
Frail Care
The frail care section consists of single or double private rooms and small wards that can accommodate 5-8 people. Here we provide full nursing care for physically or mentally impaired persons. We can also accommodate persons in need of full nursing care after surgery or whilst recuperating from serious illness. Short-term respite care can also be arranged. Nursing staff provides full-time assistance with bathing, clothing, eating, and moving. Residents are assisted and supervised at all times. Monthly Rent: R17 140 – R21 990

Additional Facilities include an on-site library, multimedia/sitting room, a hair salon, smoking and sunrooms, chair lifts and beautiful gardens with secure pathways and railings.

Beautifully laid out pathways offer the opportunity for residents to walk (with or without assistance) in secure surroundings to remain mobile and fit. Benches have been placed at strategic places on the well-maintained lawns where residents can rest and also watch the quite abundant bird life.
Social Worker
Social Worker
The support service of a full-time social worker who is employed by the Home is available to the residents as well as their families. She arranges social activities and endeavours to motivate the residents to participate in order to stimulate their intellectual, physical and social functioning.
Community Involvement
Community Involvement
Volunteers organise regular activities for the Ekklesia Park residents. Volunteers of various congregations rotate on a monthly basis to organise a morning tea with refreshments during which a guest artist or group presents a performance.
